  • Name:  Elizabeth de Senneville Red Lame Shirt

    Elizabeth de Senneville had a cutting edge boutique in Les Halles, in 1980’s Paris just around the corner from Yohji Yamamoto’s tiny first shop when they area was quite seedy, strewn with sex shops and hobos. 
    She came from an aristocratic French family and her designs were an 1980’s version of techno-futurism. All her customized textiles were specially milled for her and her simple cuts were fastened with velcro closures. She had one of the earliest industrial style “Concept” stores with all products geared toward the future and the upcoming century.
    This full cut evening shirt has square Velcro closures on a computer code generated red lame jacquard base. Her clothes were fully cut for wear by both men and women.

    Hermes Apollo rare 1950s fur clip.Gilt bronze double layered sun rays, center mounted by the head of a young Apollo.
    Louis XIV chose the sun for his emblem. The sun was Apollo, god of Peace and the Arts; it was also the heavenly body giving life to all things. Here a classic french iconic emblem is adapted as a decorative emblem for Hermes. The symbol of Louis XIV (Sun King) seen daily the on railing of Louvre and Place Vendome, takes a classic moniker and redefines it.

    Yves Saint Laurent:

    Elsa Schiaparelli’s “Shocking” Pink was a color which derived from a 17.27 carat rose colored Cartier diamond known as the Tete de Belier, belonging to her friend and client, Daisy Fellowes.

    Shocking Pink was used for the eponymous perfume “Shocking”, which was launched in 1937. The packaging was designed by artist Leonor Fini and the bottle was based on Mae West’s curvaceous figure.

    Her first shoe-hat, designed for her autumn 1937 collection, had a Shocking Pink heel. Salvador Dali loved the color so much he used it for one of his own works, “an enormous stuffed bear with drawers in its stomach,” dyed in Shocking Pink.

    Her flagship store on Place Vendome was dubbed “La Zone Rose.”
