Physicians in the 19th Century carried these kits on their house calls to help "breathe a vein". Luckily, bloodletting went out of favor in the early 20th Century as a treatment to cure disease.

This particular kit comes intact in its original leather case with filigreed metal decoration, with 2 differing knives in mother of pearl sheaths. A great conversation piece for the doctor of the house!   3.5" x 2.25".  1850's UK.
