Art Deco Egyptian Revival long pendant necklace inspired by the discovery of Tut's Tomb in 1922. The pendant shows the sacred vulture goddess Nekhbet.
A cartouche at top has hieroglyphs of birds and a serpent. The same cartouche is also on the reverse. Made of thick pierced ivorine or celluloid, the hand carved details are highlighted with a tan patinaed stain.
The pendant is strung on a long braided cotton cord with and carved bone and coral bakelite knotted beads. pendant, Width 3", Drop Length from central bead 5.5", Bead Necklace 33", 3/16" depth. 1920's France.
