Large and impressive Art Nouveau pendant by Elizabeth Bonte, France. An Iris (which was a favored motif in the period) is hand carved of natural horn and assembled in two levels for dimension and depth. Most pendants from the period are much flatter and less ornate.
The horn is then hand patinaed in different tones for depth and detail. Pate de verre beads in icy blue are added onto the silk cord and tassel.
Elizabeth Bonte, studied at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and is considered to be one of the top masters of Art Nouveau horn jewelry.
